A LEGACY ROOTED IN HISTORY
Our story begins in the era of Queen Elizabeth I. That was when Laurens Baudins, a visionary from St Martin, decided to leave an everlasting gift dedicated to the education of Jersey’s young minds. Further cemented in history by a Letter Patent issued by King James I in 1612, a group of devoted islanders were entrusted with the task to manage this fund – sowing the seed for what would become The Laurens Baudins Scholarship Trust Incorporated.
From the reign of Elizabeth I to the digital age, The Laurens Baudins Scholarship Trust continues to fuel dreams and forge futures.
THE PRESENT DAY
Fast forward to 2021, we’ve breathed new life into this historic Laurens Baudins Scholarship Trust. Reviving the timeless principles on which it was founded, we are fully committed to continue our significant role in supporting the Jersey youth as they aspire for further or higher education. Through the centuries, our mission remains the same – enhancing the future of Jersey by supporting multiple scholars every year.
ABOUT OUR SCHOLARSHIPS
All Disciplines Welcome
The Laurens Baudins Scholarship Trust provides limited financial assistance to students who are ordinarily resident in Jersey, and who have already received a firm offer of a place at a university or institute of further education either in Jersey, the United Kingdom or elsewhere.
There is no restriction on the academic discipline of our scholars. Any Jersey student studying any subject may apply.
More Than Just Tuition Fees
We understand that financing your education goes beyond just the course costs. That’s why the Trust can also help cover your living expenses, so you can focus on what truly matters – your studies.
The Laurens Baudins Scholarship Trust usually awards partial scholarships only. We believe in the power of combining resources and encourage students to also seek other financial aid options. This not only increases your financial stability but helps to foster a proactive approach in securing your future.
Annual Awards
Our awards are for one year. Students who have received awards in previous years are eligible to re-apply, but no continued funding is guaranteed. In all respects, the decisions of the trustees are final.*
Successful applications will be asked to provide reports on their work, and an account of how the funds have been spent.

When applying, we’d expect you to provide a statement outlining your academic intentions, and how these will benefit our island of Jersey. We’re keen to see how your journey could contribute to the well-being and development of our community.
